ST. CHARLES, MO – A sasquatch, also known as Bigfoot, caused a sensation when he showed up uninvited at a middle school chess tournament on Saturday and proceeded to beat every opponent he faced.
The sasquatch, who did not give his name, said he was bored and curious about the game of chess. He said he had been observing humans playing chess for a long time and decided to give it a try.
“I like chess,” the sasquatch said in a broken English. “It’s fun and challenging. It makes me use my brain. Humans are smart, but I’m smarter.”
The sasquatch said he learned chess by reading books that he found in abandoned cabins and campgrounds. He said he had no formal training or coaching.
“I taught myself,” the sasquatch said. “I have a natural talent. I can see many moves ahead. I can anticipate my opponent’s strategy. I can adapt to any situation.”
The sasquatch’s opponents, who were all middle school students from various schools in the area, said they were terrified and intimidated by his appearance and demeanor. They said he was very aggressive and confident on the board.
“He was huge and hairy,” said Amy Lee, a seventh-grader from St. Charles Middle School. “He had stank breath and made weird noises.”
“He was very fast and strong,” said Jake Wilson, an eighth-grader from Wentzville Middle School. “Sasquatch moved his pieces like he was on fire. He lit me up in 10 moves.”
The tournament organizer, Mrs. Jones, said she was shocked and amazed by the sasquatch’s performance and behavior. She said she did not know how to handle the situation.
“I didn’t know what to do,” Mrs. Jones said. “He just walked in and sat down at a table. We were somewhat in shock as he played chess and won.”
Mrs. Jones said she tried to contact the authorities while taking interviews, but the sasquatch left during the commotion. She said she did not know where he came from or where he went.
