You may think you are young and hip, but the truth is you are old and only getting older. You may not notice it yet, but every day you are losing your hair, your teeth, your memory, your hearing, your vision, your stamina, your flexibility, your charm, your relevance and your dignity. You are becoming a fossil, a relic, a dinosaur, a has-been. You are obsolete.
You may try to deny it, but the signs are everywhere. You can’t keep up with the latest trends, technologies, slang, memes, celebrities or TikTok dances. You don’t understand what the kids are talking about these days. You don’t know how to use emojis, hashtags or filters. You don’t know what NFTs, metaverse or crypto are. You don’t know who Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish or BTS are. You don’t know what WAP, YOLO or LOL mean.
You may try to hide it, but the evidence is undeniable. You can’t fit into your old clothes anymore. You can’t stay up past 10 pm anymore. You can’t drink more than two glasses of wine anymore. You can’t eat spicy food anymore. You can’t run a mile anymore. You can’t do a push-up anymore. You can’t touch your toes anymore.
You may try to fight it, but the reality is inevitable. You can’t stop the aging process. You can’t reverse the clock. You can’t turn back time. You can’t regain your youth. You can only accept it, embrace it and make the best of it.
You are old and only getting older
